4. Working knowledge of design process, principles and techniques in typography, text layout, and color theory to create custom products, industry standard software (i.e. Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and Microsoft PowerPoint) and troubleshoot production issues.
5. High level of experience working with clients to develop concepts, visualize data, and tell stories visually. HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS 1. Strong communicator. Must communicate with clients, customers and other designers to ensure the designs accurately reflect the desired message and effectively express information.
2. Work independently. A self-starter that can work at a variable pace to meet deadlines with minimal guidance.
3. Geospatial knowledge. Working knowledge of GIS tools (i.e. MaPublisher) or has the technical aptitude to quickly learn and teach/mentor others across organization about basic cartography best practices. Individual Occupational Requirements Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. OR Experience Specialized Experience (for positions above GG-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawinGG, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. Additional information DIA positions are Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) positions in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601.
