Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

DJJ is looking to add an Electrical Controls Engineer to our team of engineers to support our growing business. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in control systems programming, preferably with Rockwell Automation systems, as well as knowledge of motor control and power distribution design in low to medium voltage applications.

1. Develop new PLC and HMI programs to enhance plant operation and efficiency.
2. Perform electrical controls modifications or additions.
3. Aid in providing around-the-clock electrical controls assistance to the DJJ family of companies on a per call basis.
4. Design control panel enclosures in accordance with NEC and OSHA regulations.
5. Maintain electrical controls schematics to reflect most recent changes and/or additions.
6. Design electrical layouts, including panel location, conduit routing, and wire sizing on a per project basis.
7. Perform a safe, methodical, efficient electrical start up of equipment after extended shutdowns.
8. Be the lead electrical person on various projects. Responsibilities include selecting electrical contractors, setting and adhering to the overall project schedule and budget, and ensuring a safe, quality installation.
9. Maintain, monitor and improve production data collection and reporting system.
10. Performs other projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering- Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred.
  2. Experience in an industrial setting with electrical controls experience preferred.
  3. Ladder logic and human-machine interface programming capabilities required. Experience with 480Vac 3 phase electrical circuits also highly preferred.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of personnel within the Company, and with outside vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  5. Experience using personal computers in a work environment for spreadsheet, document presentation, and drawing preparation. Experience with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, AutoCAD and Rockwell Software products preferred.
  6. Ability to perform safely and efficiently in a time sensitive environment.
  7. Ability to travel 35%.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution desired.
