Job description

Overview:
An Advanced Practice Provider IV (APP IV) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgiaand provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physicianlicensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia.Clinical Area: Provides care primarily in the inpatient and/orcritical care, Labor & Delivery and/or emergency department settings; > 50% inpatient hospital-based setting.

Responsibilities:
Performs or assist with procedures of higher complexity in

office, inpatient unit, operating room, or emergency

department. May perform first assist functions in the operating

room setting. Call coverage may be required specific to

departmental needs

May provide education and instruction.

Monitoring or management of medical/ invasive devices andplacement of devices within scope of practice. May managecare of Pre-/ post- operative and pre-/ post- procedurepatients. Conducts high level evaluation and triage specific to thespecialty/ subspecialty including patient histories, performsphysical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeuticprocedures, differential diagnoses, ordering of ancillarystudies, medical decision making, treatment and stabilization. Formulates comprehensive health management plans forpatients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, andother medical professionals to include progress notes,narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc. Facilitatespatient participation in making health care decisions. Contributes to the development, implementation, andexpansion of programs and initiatives, including participationin research activities, quality improvement projects, etc., asappropriate. Participates in professional developmentopportunities and introduces innovation in practice whereapplicable. Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient's medicalrecord in a timely and accurate manner and in accordancewith established compliance billing guidelines. Documentsand closes open encounters, My Chart messages, and otherEMR communications in accordance with institutionalrequirements. Educates and counsels patients/families regarding theirhealth care, including routine health maintenance. Calls and responds to consults, handles discharge planning,and schedules procedures routinely. Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, andcommittees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary healthcare providers

Qualifications:
2 years critical care, Labor & delivery/ED/OR care settings - preferred Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner License required orat time of hire Physician Assistant License required at time of hire Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred at time of hire PALS Certified preferred at time of hire Education Masters Physician Assistant training program required orMasters Nurse Practitioner required Travel Up to 25% Additional Details May be required to take call coverage
