Position Overview: The Remote Structural Steel Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel projects. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, calculating material and labor costs, and collaborating with other team members to ensure successful bid submissions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel estimation and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation:


    • Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to determine scope and requirements.
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel components, including materials, labor, and overhead.
    • Identify and quantify required materials and labor for accurate cost forecasting.
  • Bid Management:


    • Analyze and interpret project documents to develop competitive bids.
    • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure all aspects of the project are covered.
    • Prepare and submit detailed and accurate bid proposals.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:


    • Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Ensure that all bids and proposals are in line with project requirements and specifications.
  • Cost Analysis and Reporting:


    • Monitor and track project costs and compare them with estimates to identify discrepancies.
    • Provide regular updates and reports on estimating progress and bid status.
  • Technical and Industry Knowledge:


    • Stay updated on industry trends, building codes, and construction methods.
    • Utilize estimating software and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel estimating.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, strong analytical and mathematical skills, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of structural steel construction processes and cost factors.
