Job description
Propulsion Engineer - Senior Kennedy Space Center - Merritt Island, FL. This position is supporting the NASA Kennedy Space Center - Merritt Island, FL. The ideal candidate will have experience with spacecraft propulsion supporting space programs. Aegis Aerospace has been selected by NASA to provide insight, surveillance, systems engineering, analysis, and mission operations support services to the Deep Space Logistics (DSL) Project at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Under the Deep Space Logistics Engineering Support (LENS) contract, our employees will provide engineering support to NASA to review and assess activities of the Gateway Logistics Services (GLS) IDIQ Contract Commercial Service Provider. This effort may include the review and assessment of the requirements, design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, verification, validation, assembly, integration, checkout, mission preparations and operations required to deliver cargo and payloads to the lunar Gateway, or for other DSL mission projects and interests. Responsibilities Apply extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts for propulsion systems. Plan, conduct, coordinate and/or develop test requirements and evaluate test results to ensure compliance with requirements. Perform and review engineering trade studies, analyses, test plans, and other engineering documentation such as requirements, procedures, analyses, and test reports. Perform and review trade studies and analyses that influence the overall propulsion system design and performance. Lead analyses and testing to determine that compliance requirements are met. Perform oversight function and advise to contractors responsible for development of propulsion systems for NASA. Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and help them plan risk responses. Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA commercial providers. Perform other duties as required. Required Experience BS Degree in Engineering from accredited university and 10 years of experience and Masters Degree and 10 years of experience with Space Propulsion systems. Knowledge of methods for liquid propulsion systems for space vehicles. Knowledge with chemical propulsion applications. Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements. Knowledge of propulsion system design, analysis principles, tools, and processes. Knowledge of certification and/or qualification processes and procedures. Experience in testing of propulsion system or their components for integration on a flight vehicle. Ability to perform propulsion design integration tasks within a team environment. Able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision. Preferred experience Experience with Hydrazine, mmH (mono methyl Hydrazine), NO3, LOX (Liquid Oxygen), and LCH4 (Liquid Methane) propellants. Experience with NASA Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes. Working knowledge of NASA standard practices and requirements, including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
