Job description

The Driver transports patients from place of origin to appointments in a courteous and timely manner. This role requires a high commitment to service excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confirm patients the day prior to the appointment and notify patient of approximate pick-up time.
  • Safely pick-up and return of patients and equipment as per schedule.
  • Assist patients enter and exit vehicles.
  • Operate lift gate to facilitate transport of wheelchair patients.
  • Maintain communication with clinic staff and transportation supervisors to report changes in schedule including any patient cancellations.
  • Work flexible shifts as work dictates.
  • Daily maintenance to ensure mechanical safety and vehicle cleanliness.
  • Immediately report any incident or accident to supervisor and management.
  • Prepare driving routes in advance to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers, and destinations.
  • Participate in educational trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Education / Licenses:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of dispatching experience required.
  • At least 3 years' experience in routing and patient transport in a medical environment.
  • Strong people skills; independent decision making and customer service oriented.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Basic computer knowledge; MS Office, sending electronic communications with minimal errors.
  • Minimum Class E Driver's License and CDL preferred.
