The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting a wide range of HR responsibilities for US and Canada. Position is responsible for aligning HR strategy with business objectives and supporting HR business needs. The position will serve in a supporting capacity to assigned business leaders and employees on all HR related issues. Key responsibilities include assessing and anticipating HR needs in assigned regions and proactively addressing those needs. Position will forge partnerships and deliver value-added HR services to management and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners with country leadership and regional HR to understand and align with business needs and strategies. Develops country HR goals in support of business objectives.
  • Provides support and guidance to management on a wide range of HR issues to include employee relations, engagement, compensation, leaves of absence, policy interpretation, and staffing to name a few.
  • Handles performance management program; introductory reviews, one on ones and annual performance reviews.
  • Handles performance improvement, provides managers guidance and participates in counseling/disciplinary meetings as needed.
  • Processes verification of employment on active and terminated employees as well as processing unemployment claims, including termination backup documentation.
  • Updates personnel files, general maintenance of personnel files and conducts periodical audits of personnel files.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment, including distribution of updated posters to all branches.
  • Maintains I-9 forms up to date and documents. Notifies employees 90 days prior to work authorization expiry date to update work authorization in a timely manner.
  • Support annual merit increase program to include setup, communication, roll-out, analysis and coordination with payroll. HR representative for the country compensation committee.
  • Handles employee relations issues, HR investigations, disciplinary challenges and disputes.
  • Supports administration of the EIP program which includes identification of eligible jobs, communication, providing finance with eligible list, ensuring adherence to EIP plan and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Manages all status changes and ad hoc salary changes to ensure compliance with policy and standards.
  • Works closely with Regional Talent Acquisition Manager to support staffing efforts. May participate in interviews and candidate assessments as needed, step in to assist with critical needs roles and/or educate hiring managers on recruitment process. Will provide guidance on open positions and job descriptions.
  • Works closely Regional Operations Training Manager to identify and facilitate training in assigned country.
  • Works closely with Benefits and Payroll on employee issues.
  • Prepares records and documentation for yearly audits and assist internal auditors during audit as needed.
  • Performs focus groups and participates in employee engagement initiatives to improve overall engagement and employee retention.
  • Supports safety program as needed and in collaboration with QHSE Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise any direct reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • Minimum two years of HR administration experience preferably supporting operations and/or multiple locations
  • Knowledge of HR best practice, systems and solutions
  • Technology - experience with HRIS/HCM systems, preferably ADP and/or Workday.

  • Sense of urgency - ability to handle multiple and competing priorities in a timely manner.
  • Project oriented - must have experience with project work.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as premium rates, deductions, commissions, compensation details, etc.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker, ability to perform with limited supervision.
  • Analytical skills / problem-solving ability
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills a strong plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently required to stand, and walk
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods
  • Regularly uses arms to reach, hands and fingers for computer and phone use
  • Speaking clearly and listening for heavy phone contact
  • Requires close-up and computer screen distance vision ability
  • Requires overnight travel of approximately 20%
