Purpose of Role

The LPN is responsible for all services under the supervision of the Manager of Nursing. The L.P.N. is responsible to provide routine nursing care and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the client in coordination with the attending physician.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Transcribes Physician's Orders and Implement all Medical Protocols as ordered.
  • Administers medications and monitors for effectiveness and/or undesired effects.
  • Monitors for post-acute withdrawal symptoms.
  • Confers with and assist the Medical Doctor, Director of Nursing, the APRNs and Registered Nurses.
  • Attends and participate in all "in-service" functions.
  • Assists with emergency situations and make immediate referrals.
  • Provides documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards.
  • Maintains the Confidential nature of all patients and facility activities.
  • Meets with clients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, assists in educating clients about health problems and medical care.
  • Meets with therapists to provide information about client medical problems.
  • Assists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning.
  • Provides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
  • Facilitate Medical Groups as directed by Director of Nursing.
  • Participate in regular department meetings and staff meetings.
  • Encourage efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
  • Interacts with clients with compassion and respect.
  • Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
  • Complete duties in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences; is on time for scheduled shifts and prepared to begin work.
  • Functions well as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff.
  • Performs additional duties, as deemed necessary by Director of Nursing.
  • Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies.
  • Communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team member.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting.
  • Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress.
  • Accepts and utilizes supervision.
  • Addresses problems noted by supervisor.
  • Performs other assignments as requested by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Completes all tasks with concern for work quality.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety rules, guidelines & procedures.

Professional Experience, Essential Skills, and Knowledge
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, preferably in a detoxification unit and/or inpatient or partial hospitalization setting and a minimum of one year work experience in mental health/substance abuse field required.
  • Graduate from a Community College with a degree or diploma of Nursing LPN
  • Current Florida State Licensed Practical Nurse License
  • Current Florida Driver's License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Maintains required Training & Continuing Education including CEUs required by agency completed within 90 day probationary period
  • Knowledge of Clients Rights and treats all clients with dignity and respect in a consistent caring manner understands the principles of addiction and psychiatric treatment
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws
  • Computer Knowledge a must, as well as experience with Electronic Medical Records systems
  • Good communication and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Must be available and able to work during a disaster situation such as a Hurricane.

Work schedule: 36 hours per week

Shift: 7:00am - 7:00pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Salary: $28-$35 per hour depending on experience and credentials
