JOB SUMMARY
The Lab Technologist I/Lab Technologist II evaluates clinical specimens using automated and manual methods in order to generate results accurately, precisely, and promptly. Using independent judgment, the Lab Technologist solves problems, performs advanced troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions, documents all corrective action, and records quality control. This position needs minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates clinical specimens with accuracy following established protocols.
Maintains equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions.
Calls and documents critical values when applicable.
Runs quality control materials according to established procedures, resolving any discrepancies.
Able to use the information systems pertinent to job.
Calibrates instruments according to manufacturer's recommendations.
Assists others in the department promoting an effective team.
Identifies patient specimens correctly.
Correlates other laboratory information and clinical information with test results to ensure accuracy and greatest diagnostic yield.
Handles multiple projects and organizes time efficiently.
Reviews and evaluates reports as requested.
Uses independent judgment to analyze situations and take appropriate action to ensure continuity of laboratory services.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Lab Technologist I
Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of Florida in all five specialty areas is required for positions in General Laboratory at all locations.
Minimum of Associates Degree required, or higher education as required by state to qualify for licensure.
Internal applicants selected for this position must be licensed as a technologist in the State of Florida within 3 months of date of transfer.
Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
Lab Technologist II
Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of Florida in all five specialty areas is required for positions in General Laboratory at all locations.
Minimum of Bachelor's degree required, or its equivalent required in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
Internal applicants selected for this position must be licensed as a technologist in the State of Florida within 3 months of date of transfer.
Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
