Job description

Are you passionate about supporting our servicemen and women by ensuring the reliability and performance of critical communication systems? We are seeking a highly skilled System Design/Architecture - Multi-Focus Application Engineer to join our dynamic Communications Test Systems team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing innovative software and hardware solutions that perform functional and diagnostic testing of various electronic assemblies. Your expertise will help define and validate test scenarios, ensuring tactical communication equipment meets stringent service requirements. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Analysis: Analyze OEM documentation, schematics, and UUT behavior to understand and define test requirements. Apply engineering expertise to determine test needs in the absence of documentation.
Design and Interface: Create physical interface connections, including generating electrical schematics, wire lists, and bills of materials to connect UUT I/O to the test station.
Software Development: Develop software to implement defined test requirements using object-oriented APIs, configuring system instrumentation and UUT to verify expected outputs.
Debugging and Troubleshooting: Conduct debugging and troubleshooting procedures to resolve development phase failures and end-user reported issues.
Life Cycle DevOps: Utilize Life Cycle DevOps methodologies.
Revision Control: Manage all source and document data using revision control software.
Validation and Verification: Perform software validation and verification testing.
Mentorship: Support and mentor junior engineers, sharing specialized knowledge and facilitating code reviews.
Customer Interaction: Engage with customers and travel as necessary.
Project Management: Work independently or collaboratively to meet project goals, ensuring best practices are applied.
Job Specifications:
To excel in this role, you should meet the following qualifications and possess the necessary skills and abilities: Qualifications: Technical Expertise: Proficient in modern software-defined architectures and object-oriented design principles.
Software Development: Extensive experience in C# development and object-oriented design.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical reasoning, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Test Equipment Proficiency: Experienced in using communication and bench test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
RF Measurements: Demonstrated understanding of RF measurements.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Experience: Background in tactical/airborne radio logistics.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (BSCE, BSEE, or BSCS) required.
Minimum of 15 years' experience in Test and Measurement and Software.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in object-oriented software development languages such as C, C++, and C#.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
