Unit Overview

The South Tower 5A/5C Medical Surgical units have a maximum capacity of 52 semi-private beds. We serve a diverse patient population, including those requiring long-term care, surgical management, and disease processes like hypertension and diabetes. Our units provide cardiac monitoring with remote telemetry and safely transfer critically ill patients as needed.

Ideal Nurse Ratios

Nurses: 5:1

Nursing Assistants: 8:1

Charge Nurse on 5A and 5C (no patient assignment)

Position Summary

As the Nursing Operations Manager, you will provide leadership and operational oversight for the inpatient direct care unit(s). You will be accountable for achieving departmental and hospital goals alongside other leadership teams.

Essential Functions

Evaluate the environment to enhance quality service and ensure patient comfort and safety.

Lead and organize the delivery of patient care to achieve sustained outcomes.

Promote a healthy work environment prioritizing safety and quality outcomes.

Engage in policy formulation and decision-making while embracing workplace diversity.

Implement continuous improvement strategies to measure performance against nursing care standards.

Serve as an agent of change, guiding staff through necessary transitions.

Develop and maintain an effective nursing delivery model aligned with patient and family needs.

Participate in planning and implementing new technologies and services.

Identify, recruit, and develop top nursing talent.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or a graduate degree in Business or a health-related field preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Current RN license in Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Additional certifications may be required based on patient population (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC).

National leadership board certification (ANCC or AONL) within 2 years.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years as a registered nurse in an acute care setting.

At least 1 year of leadership experience.
