The L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems segment is seeking an RF Design Engineer to support advanced RF/Microwave design and development activities, while leveraging their experience in RF hardware to fulfill our customers' complex missions. This RF design role involves optimizing RF performance through research, design, development, and verification, while supporting customer programs, IRAD projects, technical trade studies, proposals, and providing guidance to engineering teams. Success will be achieved through utilization of a diverse array of RF simulation tools and laboratory equipment, to create innovative hardware solutions while ensuring our commitment to design excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • RF/Microwave hardware experience including research, design, development, and verification to optimize RF hardware performance
  • Work on a multi-disciplinary team to achieve complex RF hardware design specifications according to customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot RF hardware to the component level
  • Assist other engineers as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience designing critical RF performance characteristics of passive and active components such as amplifiers, oscillators, attenuators, mixers, filters, splitters, couplers, phase shifters, VCOs, PLLs, etc.
  • Experience using RF simulation and analysis tools including ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, MATLAB, etc.
  • Experience with RF Link Budget Analysis, including nonlinear effects and their remedies (intermodulation, IP3, IP2, group delay variation, and dynamic range).
  • Experience with S-parameters, matching networks, cascade analysis, gain budget analysis (gain, noise figure, linearity, noise power, etc.), filtering (bandwidth, types, implementations, etc.), signal analysis (Eb/No, BER vs. noise, receiver sensitivity), temperature effects, and isolation
  • Experience using RF lab equipment including Network Analyzers, Signal/Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, RF Power Sensors, etc.
  • Schematic and PCB layout experience using Xpedition or Cadence
Preferred Additional Skills
  • MMIC or RFIC Design Experience
  • Phased Array Experience
  • TS/SCI Clearance preferred
  • RF Hybrid Experience integrating diverse RF components on a single substrate with precision ribbon wire interconnections
  • MATLAB experience for data analysis
