Job description

Overview:
The Ambulatory Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical and non-clinical education programs for UF Health St Johns Ambulatory employees. This individual will also be responsible for performinga variety of clinical and administrative duties in alignment with the education and clinical components of the position. This position delivers educational trainings usinga variety of mediums while assessing employee training needs and performing ongoing evaluation of implemented programs.

Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and maintains clinical and non-clinical education programs for UF Health St Johns Ambulatory employees, both new/onboarding and established to foster an environment of continual learning and development. This will including ensuring successful onboarding of team members, the timely dissemination of information to all team members serving as a primary resource person for UF Health St Johns Ambulatory employees with regards to clinical education and training programs.

Plans and conducts orientation of new clinical personnel that facilitates a new team member's transition to the work environment and meets competency assessment requirements in conformance with departmental objectives and accreditation standards. Includes but is not limited to educational programs and computer-based learning modules.
Provides educational offerings through a variety of media including lectures, written materials, on-line presentations, role-playing and other media, as appropriate.

Assesses learning needs through formal and informal approaches to data collection to determine specific education
needs and utilizes teaching techniques that promote critical thinking and evidence-based practice incorporating
principles of adult learning theory.

Provides expertise for competency development and competence assessment across the ambulatory division and provides feedback to improve professional practice within UF Health St Johns Ambulatory.

Cultivates relationships with community and educational organizations. Develops and coordinates student programs.

Provides educational offerings through a variety of media including lectures, written materials, on-line presentations, role-playing and other media, as appropriate.

Fulfills patient care responsibilities including scheduling and patient flow, assisting patients for exam preparation, collecting patient history, charting, and relaying instructions to patients, when needed.

Actively mentors and supports colleagues and staff. Supports and encourages the professional development of
the clinical staff and collaborates within and across the organization to identify internal and external resources
available for staff.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program required.

Certification as a Medical Assistant required.

Candidates must meet ONE of the following experience criteria:

Five years of providing direct care as a medical assistant in a physician's office/clinic

Three years providing education on delivering direct care as a medical assistant in a physicians office/clinic

Three years working with licensed personnel in an ambulatory or physician practice
