Position Overview By Light is seeking a skilled and experienced AV Installation Lead to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading the installation of advanced AV systems for the Department of Defense and other clients. As the Installation Lead, you'll play a key role in ensuring that each project is completed smoothly and successfully, working closely with both installation teams and engineers to deliver high-quality results. You'll also provide hands-on support when needed, and ensure that all customer requirements are met to the highest standard. Responsibilities Oversee AV Installations: Lead installation teams, managing all aspects of the AV installation process to ensure projects are completed on time, within the required specifications.
Conduct Site Surveys (Onsite and Virtual): Carry out thorough site surveys to understand customer requirements, gather critical room information, and share findings with the engineering team to inform project designs.
Customer Training and Support: Provide onsite training to customers, helping them understand and use their new AV systems effectively.
Collaborate on Design: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that the designs align with installation-specific needs and that any challenges are addressed early in the process.
Install and Configure AV Systems: Lead the installation of various AV equipment such as displays, video walls, speakers, microphones, and control systems (e.g., Crestron).
Cabling and Wiring: Oversee the installation, termination, and testing of all necessary cabling, including HDMI, Cat6, and speaker wires.
Rack Building and Setup: Manage the assembly and installation of AV racks, making sure all equipment is neatly organized, labeled, and wired properly.
System Testing and Troubleshooting: Ensure all AV systems are thoroughly tested and fully functional, troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during installation.
Post-Installation Support: Provide ongoing support after the installation, including testing the system, adjusting settings, and training customers on system use.
Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for clients during installations, addressing any concerns and ensuring they have a positive experience. Required Experience/Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in AV installation, with experience leading teams preferred.
Strong hands-on experience installing and configuring AV systems, including displays, speakers, microphones, AV racks, and cabling.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams to ensure proper installation.
Strong troubleshooting skills, with experience resolving signal flow, wiring, or equipment issues on-site.
Proficiency with hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment used in AV installations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work with both clients and team members effectively.
Willingness to travel to different project sites as needed. Preferred Experience/Qualifications Certifications such as AVIXA CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist - Installation) or similar.
Familiarity with Crestron control systems, AVoIP technologies, and IP-based AV systems.
Basic networking knowledge related to AV systems, including AV over IP configuration.
Understanding of audio system setup and related acoustics. Special Requirements/Security Clearance Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred or ability to obtain Physical Demands Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 lbs, and work in tight or elevated spaces for equipment installation.
