Job description
Global NOC Technician, Tier 1 Onsite from Tampa, FL As our Global NOC Technician, Tier 1, you will execute in-depth technical support functions on multiple complex end-to-end global networks comprised of satellite teleports, commercial gateways, data centers, terrestrial fiber circuits, and terrestrial microwave radios utilizing ticketing, and network monitoring tools. SES S&D operates its own MPLS Global Communications Network (GCN) to transport our customers' data safely. You will need to monitor the network to find anomalies and resolve any issues before service interruption. Any problems that cannot be managed by Tier 1 Technicians should be escalated to the highest technical resources available for resolution. Primary Responsibilities Activate and authorize remote satellite terminals access to include Peak and Pol alignment of satellite Terminals.
Experience with Frequency Spectrum Management using Kratos MONICS carrier monitoring tools
Familiar with the Satellite Access Request Process
Monitor and/or respond to satellite interference. Coordinate internally with Tier 2, Engineering, and with Satellite Operators to resolve these issues as required
Plan communications networks by operational regions
Monitor all elements of TDMA and SCPC satellite links at various commercial satellite teleports, backhaul terrestrial fiber optic circuits and wireless access points.
Generate option files for multiple iDirect networks.
Ability to transmit and receive required documentation, outage notifications, link budgets, etc. via Classified systems.
Monitor all elements of the Global Communications Network (GCN) and work with various data centers, Teleports, and terrestrial vendors.
Disseminate information regarding planned maintenance performed by terrestrial vendors and commercial Teleports, report status and monitor usage for the security of our customers data.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve product-related issues resulting from installation, software and hardware upgrades, configuration changes, and equipment integration or testing.
Open, track, escalate (if required) and close related trouble tickets for all the above functions.
Follow policies and procedures as relates to each customer/end user for both primary and COOP Operations Center locations.
Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Work with various internal engineering teams to store and update technical documentation as relates to all networks.
Field after- hours IT calls and reset passwords for authorized users and assist with resolving MWR Global ICP customer issues.
Protect organization's value by preserving the confidentiality of information.
Adhere to all prescribed security policies to the level of SECRET
Operate remote Global NOSC Kit from home/hotel environment during emergency situations
Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Associate Degree in wireless communication, network engineering, computer science or a combination of related field experience with at least two years progressively complex network systems engineering experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience
Prior SATCOM Network Operations Center or Security Operations Center experience
Security+ certification is required, or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
Network+ certification is required, or ability to obtain within 365 days of hire
Proven experience and expertise in satellite and network troubleshooting exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to work independently or in a team environment with end users and all levels of management
Candidate must have experience managing and supporting iDirect hub solutions, TCP/IP to include general networking concepts and SATCOM/RF concepts
Knowledge of current IT systems/platforms, operating systems, applications, and security methods.
Ability to guide and mentor newly hired technicians and provide continual process
Active U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance level
Preferred Qualifications Active U.S. Government, DoD TOP SECRET SCI
iDirect TDMA, HughesNet, IPoS certifications, Comtech SLM5650B and/or ViaSat MD1366 experience
Microsoft Office suite and applications
IP routing and switching related certifications in areas of Juniper or Cisco network interface technologies
Use of various trouble ticketing systems like, Science Logic SL1, ServiceNow, etc.
Use of spectrum monitoring tools such as SatMonics, etc.
Use of network monitoring tools such as Whats Up Gold, SolarWinds etc.
