Senior Claims Attorney - Large Complex Loss

We are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster to join our dynamic client. In this role, you will manage high-exposure, complex claims, including multi-million dollar losses. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of handling large loss claims with expertise in coverage analysis, liability determinations, and resolution of intricate claims issues.

Our client is not a Primary Carrier but rather an Excess Liability Insurance Carrier.

This is hybrid position - our client is in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Remote work takes place on Monday and Friday.

To be considered for this role you must have a Juris Doctor degree with an active state bar license.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve large loss claims, focusing on multi-million dollar property and casualty claims.
• Collaborate with legal teams, contractors, and other external partners to ensure comprehensive claim assessments.
• Review and interpret complex policy language to determine coverage and ensure the best possible outcomes.
• Develop strategic plans for claims resolution, including litigation management when necessary.
• Provide guidance and direction to adjusters handling related claims, serving as a subject matter expert in large loss scenarios.
• Prepare detailed reports on claim status, reserves, and action plans for senior management.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree with an active state bar license in good standing.
• 5+ years of in-house Claims Attorney or equivalent position in an insurance company.
• Extensive experience managing complex and large loss claims (multi-million dollar losses preferred).
• Strong knowledge of insurance policies, coverage analysis, and liability determination.
• Proven ability to handle high-stakes claims with professionalism and attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in litigation management and working on cases that may involve legal proceedings.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in insurance or a related field.
