Job description
Overview:
MedQuest, a leading outpatient imaging provider with 45 centers, seeks a Director of Quality to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the Quality Management Program (QMP) across all imaging modalities. The Director of Quality will ensure patient safety, diagnostic accuracy, and regulatory compliance (by coordinating with the Chief Compliance Officer) and foster a culture of continuous improvement while maintaining and supporting operational efficiency. This role will collaborate with technologists, radiologists, administrative staff, and external JV partners to enhance quality standards across the organization. They will also work with center managers to ensure site quality processes and quality-related operational standardization.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
Develop, implement, and maintain MedQuest's Total Quality Management Program (QMP) to ensure the highest patient care, safety, and operational efficiency standards across all 45 centers and work with any new Joint Venture partners/centers.
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish strategic goals and objectives for quality improvement and patient safety.
Chair or participate in the Quality Council or Committee to drive quality initiatives and ensure cross-center collaboration.
Help cross-pollinate best practices
Serve as a subject matter expert in radiology quality management and regulatory compliance (in tight collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer).
Quality Assurance & Performance Monitoring:
Establish, monitor, and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to diagnostic accuracy, patient safety, radiation dose, repeat rates, and turnaround times across all centers.
Develop and implement quality control (QC) protocols for all imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, and X-ray.
Regularly review performance data from the 45 centers, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
Oversee peer review processes for radiologists and technologists to ensure high image acquisition and interpretation standards.
Policy and Procedure Management:
Develop, update, and ensure compliance with all quality-related policies and procedures, including radiation safety, contrast administration, and patient interactions.
Ensure all procedures align with industry best practices and comply with state, federal, and accreditation body regulations (e.g., ACR, RadSite, FDA, NRC, TJC as applicable).
Education & Training:
Lead ongoing training and professional development initiatives for technologists, radiologists, and support staff, focusing on quality improvement, safety protocols, and new technologies.
Foster a continuous learning and development culture, encouraging participation in workshops, conferences, and certification programs.
Incident Management & Risk Reduction:
Establish a comprehensive incident reporting and investigation system to track and address patient safety incidents, near-misses, and equipment failures across all locations.
Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate risks and prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with clinical teams at each center to promptly address and resolve identified risks and incidents.
Share learnings with Center leaders in the entire portfolio
Patient Experience & Feedback:
Design and implement patient feedback mechanisms, including surveys and interviews, to assess patient satisfaction and identify areas for improvement across the 45 centers.
Work with clinical teams to ensure patient feedback is incorporated into quality improvement initiatives.
Quality Related Technology & Innovation:
Drive the adoption of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) for image analysis, cloud-based solutions for image storage and sharing, and patient engagement tools.
Stay current on trends and innovations in radiology quality management, integrating relevant advancements into MedQuest's QMP.
Compliance & Accreditation (in Collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer):
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to radiology services.
Lead the preparation and management of accreditation and regulatory audits across the 45 centers, ensuring all documentation and practices meet standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Radiology related field, Healthcare Administration, Quality Management, or related field required.
Advanced certification or credentials in radiology (e.g., ARRT, CRA, CPHQ) is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality management, preferably within radiology or a healthcare setting.
Proven track record of leadership and implementation of quality initiatives that improved operational efficiency, diagnostic accuracy, and patient safety.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and accreditation processes, including ACR, Joint Commission, and state/federal laws.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in data-driven decision-making.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of staff and leadership.
In-depth knowledge of imaging modalities and quality control standards in radiology.
Ability to drive change and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Working Conditions:
Full-time: on-site or hybrid position with occasional travel between MedQuest's portfolio of outpatient imaging centers.
Standard office hours with flexibility to address urgent quality issues as needed.
