Job description

The Spanish Teacher at Athens Montessori is responsible for creating a dynamic and immersive learning environment where students can develop proficiency in the Spanish language through the Montessori method. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching Spanish to young learners, possess strong communication skills, and have a deep understanding of both the Montessori philosophy and Spanish language instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging Spanish language lessons that align with the Montessori curriculum and methodology.

Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to communicate in Spanish.

Integrate Spanish language learning into various aspects of the Montessori curriculum, including practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, and cultural studies.

Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

Foster a love for Spanish language and Hispanic culture through authentic and culturally relevant learning experiences.

Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.

Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to language learning across the school.

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and Montessori education.

Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress, goals, and expectations.

Uphold the values and principles of Montessori education, including respect for the individual, independence, and the holistic development of each child.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field.

Previous experience teaching Spanish to young learners, preferably in a Montessori or similar educational setting.

Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate pedagogical practices.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians.

Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice.
