The Financial Analyst Sr. Accounting & Financial Reporting is responsible for accounting and financial reporting aspects of the Department of Aviation (DOA). As part of the Accounting and Financial Reporting team, they will be responsible for ensuring that DOA transactions are recorded timely and accurately in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as prescribed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
Supervision Received
Works under general supervision. May work independently with responsibility for assigned function(s) or program(s).
Major Responsibilities
Accounting
Preparing journal entries.
Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness.
Reconciling general ledger accounts.
Performing account analysis and developing explanations for significant variances.
Assist with the annual audit of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), including the preparation of prepared by client (PBC) requests, pulling supporting documentation and other activities in support of the audit.
Financial Reporting
Assists with preparation of the DOAs CAFR.
Assists with the preparation of the DOAs monthly reporting and quarterly financial reporting package.
Assists with the preparation of the DOAs internal management reporting.
Assists with research and implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
Other
Other duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills
Formal Knowledge
Knowledge of Excel including use of Pivot Tables, data collection and management, etc.
Familiarity with a variety of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting applications.
