Volt is immediately hiring for an Industrial Safety Specialist in Richland, WA
Position Type: Full Time(Contract)
Duration: 2-3 months contract with possible extension
Locations: Richland, WA-Onsite
As an Industrial Safety Specialist, you will:
Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide industrial safety specialist support to company's at the site, as requested. The specialist will work under the technical direction of the Contract Technical Representative, with support as outlined below:
  • Conduct safety and industrial hygiene inspections and audits to assure compliance with Company's policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Minimizing Company's liability by monitoring and enforcing compliance with safety requirements and Washington State regulations as it applies to a contractor, subcontractor or its employees.
  • Review and become knowledgeable of the prime and general contractor's liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.
  • Review facilities, equipment and work tasks to assure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Resolve problems and provide cost interpretations relating to safety and health policy and procedure compliance.
  • Perform industrial safety analysis and provide judgment decision for of areas of concern such as potential fall exposure issues, potential chemical exposure issues, high noise areas and lead based coating removal.
  • Respond to on-site medical emergencies and render first aid treatment as required by individual certification protocols.
  • Attend and represent Industrial Safety in meetings, event investigations and incident review boards, as assigned.
  • Perform confined space, heat stress and indoor air quality monitoring and analysis as qualified and as requested.
  • Provide industrial safety training, as qualified, and as directed by the Contract Technical Representative.
  • Observe and comply with the safety rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Observe and comply with the Excellence Model.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • BS degree in Safety Engineering or related field and 8 years applicable experience; or an Associate's degree with 10 years of applicable experience; or 14 years applicable experience.
  • Specialized training in industrial safety practices and WISHA/OSHA regulations and codes
  • A well-developed aptitude and skilled demonstration of the Core Values, Leadership Competencies and abilities/skills identified in the Abilities/Skills section of this position description.

Desired:
  • First Responder medical training, or higher.
  • Washington State Asbestos Abatement Supervisor certification desired.
  • National Safety Council Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA) certification or American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification desired.
  • Accident/incident review, investigation and prevention
  • Development and implementation of training
  • Preparing complex written reports
  • Safety compliance observations and walk-downs
  • Plant technical training such as BWR introduction, Basic Plant Operations.
  • Preparing and delivering oral presentations to management and to internal/external organizations.
  • Dangerous and hazardous waste.
  • Forklifts, backhoe, cab and pendant crane operations.
  • Commercial Nuclear Power Plant.
Pay Range: $55-$60 per hour + on-Top Per-Diem for qualified candidates

c. Review and become knowledgeable of the prime and general contractor's liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.
