As a Mission Software Engineer on the Vehicle Autonomy team, you will solve a wide variety of problems involving networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics, and more, while making pragmatic engineering tradeoffs along the way. Your efforts will ensure that Anduril products seamlessly work together to achieve a variety of critical outcomes. Related Products: Altius , Lattice for Command and Control Related Posting: Command and Control Interface - Frontend Engineer (Costa Mesa, California) Related Posting: Mission Software Engineer, C++ (Atlanta, Georgia) What You'll Do Work directly with high-performance backend technologies like C++/Rust/Golang, and software product lifecycle technologies like NixOS/CircleCI/Docker in support of web user interfaces using industry-leading frontend technologies like TypeScript/React. Design, build, test, and deploy real-time, map-based user interfaces for displaying and interacting with sensor data and controlling Altius aircraft in the Lattice UI for direct control for engineers and tactical control for end users. Help define foundational software architectures, visual designs, and user experience workflows for Altius, working directly with chief engineers, program managers, flight test engineers, and end-user customers to demonstrate capability and iterate on feedback. Test and evaluate your software at multiple levels of rigor using simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets. Work alongside engineers using multiple other full stack technologies like Java/Kotlin/Android, C++/Qt, and C#/.NET on a functional, cross-product team specializing in user interfaces for robotic systems. Required Qualifications Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics/Physics, or similar. At least 3+ years of C++ experience. Strong systems engineering background, being able to pick up how subsystems communicate over various different protocols such as in a microservice ecosystem. Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis. Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases. A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact. U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data. Additional Beneficial Qualifications Experience working with the DoD where safety is paramount, regulations must be balanced, and operational environments are tightly controlled. Experience in a startup or small company working environment where deadlines are tight, requirements are open-ended, and the teams are often fewer than 10 people. Proficiency with modern Web frontend programming languages including HTML/CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React Framework. Experience with 3D geospatial analysis and mapping software such as ArcGIS, Cesium, MapBox, or TAK. Experience programming with Golang, Rust, TypeScript, and Python among other relevant web-backend languages. Experience developing user interface software that does not require Internet access or has local/offline functionality. Exposure to technologies related to Altius such as fixed-wing flight mechanics, UAV control, mesh networking, and launch systems. Exposure to aviation such as a hobbyist RC piloting, holding a Private Pilot License or Part 107 Remote Pilot License. US Salary Range $117,300 - $214,200 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
