Job description

For over 20 years, OSI's purpose has been to help good people do great things and provide incredible software solutions to clients of all sizes. As a tech services organization, we're building a sustainable, ethical technology services business, partnering with exceptional clients who benefit from our ability to deliver. We're a small company with a family-style atmosphere - small enough to move fast and close enough to share in the white-glove experience we've become known for.

About the Role

This unique role blends the functions of a Product Analyst and a Scrum Master within a software engineering team. Working primarily as a Product Analyst, you'll partner with engineers to deliver high-impact features that enhance our platform. You'll also reinforce our Agile practices as a Scrum Master and facilitate Scrum ceremonies. Our next hire will become a domain expert and ensure the team builds quality products that meet user and business needs while also reinforcing the focus of our engineers and managing external expectations. You will be a critical point of contact for production support, documentation, coaching and mentoring within the team, and removing impediments that block team progress. Functions of the role include:

  • Domain Expertise - Understanding what the team is responsible for and lead exercises to model domain knowledge into actionable backlogs and assisting in team refinements.
  • QA - Validate the quality of product features through manual QA processes, including building and maintaining comprehensive test cases and test suites.
  • User Advocacy - Ensure that user needs are front and center in all decision-making processes and be the voice of the user within the team during refinement and planning sessions.
  • Team Representation - Effectively communicate the status of the team's work, including current and upcoming backlog items, and advocate for team priorities.
  • Backlog Development - Advocate for prioritization of backlog based on domain knowledge and business priorities while helping create and refine user stories that meet the INVEST criteria in the LeSS framework.
  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies - Stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Guidance - Coaching the engineering team on Agile/Scrum best-practices, principles, and promoting self-management.
  • Tracking & Reporting - using metrics to track team's progress through sprint cycles and utilize metric reports to maintain alignment and transparency with stakeholders.
  • Removing Obstacles - Identifying and removing any blockers or impediments that could slow down the team's progress by resolving resource issues, dealing with external dependencies, or facilitating communication between stakeholders and members of the feature team.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education and Experience level

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Certification(s) in Agile/Scrum Product Ownership or Scrum Framework methodology preferred, but not required
  • Four (4) years of experience as a liaison between internal/external business leads and the end user community in an Agile/Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) environment.

Location & Citizenship Requirements

As this will support a U.S.-based healthcare client, it is required that you also meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Current U.S. citizen with no employment restrictions or sponsorship requirements. If you are not a current U.S. citizen, we cannot consider you for this role
  • Located in the U.S. and able to work full-time remotely (this team will be distributed)

Required Skills

  • Experience with BDD/Cucumber and Jira
  • Proven experience in a Product Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role in a software development environment, preferably with Agile project management functions.
  • Strong knowledge of manual QA processes, domain modeling (including Domain-Driven Design), and backlog development.
  • Experience within, and a firm understanding of, Agile/Scrum methodology and the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles in the SDLC with minimal external intervention
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent both the user's and team's perspectives to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Proficiency in creating documentation that is both technical and user-facing.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience in healthcare technology or familiarity with healthcare delivery platforms is a plus.
  • High level of adaptability to changing work environments

We would like to hear from you! At OSI, we aim to attract, grow, and retain good people and help them do great things. If OSI and this position sound like a fit, we'd love to consider you for our team.
