Job description

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for supporting all accounting and financial related activities within Advanced Technology Leaders. These include AP/AR, credit card entry, account reconciliations and general ledger accounting. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Financial Account Manager to ensure the accurate and timely distribution of financial and management reports. The applicant should be detail-oriented, possess a high degree of accuracy and work well with other people. The Accounting Specialist will support in daily, monthly, and year-end accounting functions, to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card transactions, invoicing, general ledger, and payroll. This position will also support the Finance Department in preparing monthly budget, forecasts, and reporting to executive management. Duties: Accounts Payable

Responsibilities: Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
Maintain and balance an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
Prepare payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
Develop and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Provide accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration
2 years accounting experience
Management experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks
Experience using payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
Working knowledge of Unanet
Working knowledge of Deltek
Knowledge of government contracting
Excellent analytical and numerical skills
Sharp time management skills
Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data

This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Demands: Stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time while delivering training.
Be able to maneuver in and out of strategic and tactical equipment, and capable of lifting and moving electronic equipment in excess of 40lbs in and out of classrooms and labs.
