Summary We are looking for a skilled Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) Administrator to support a critical Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program. The MECM Administrator will be responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining the MECM infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient management of workstations, servers, and mobile devices across the DHS environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MECM (formerly SCCM), patch management, software deployment, and security compliance in a federal or highly regulated environment. Responsibilities MECM Infrastructure Management:
Administer, configure, and maintain the MECM infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
Manage MECM components such as distribution points, management points, and site servers.
Perform daily maintenance tasks, monitor system health, and resolve any issues that arise.
Patch Management:
Coordinate and execute operating system and software patch management processes for all managed endpoints.
Develop and deploy security patches to ensure compliance with DHS security standards.
Track, report, and resolve any patching issues or exceptions in collaboration with security and IT teams.
Software Deployment & Management:
Package, deploy, and manage software applications using MECM.
Create, test, and manage deployment packages, task sequences, and updates across workstations and servers.
Ensure that software updates and deployments are completed successfully and resolve any deployment failures.
Endpoint Security & Compliance:
Ensure that all endpoints adhere to DHS security policies and standards, including encryption and antivirus software.
Monitor compliance and remediate any systems found to be out of compliance.
Assist in the development and enforcement of configuration baselines and security policies.
Asset Management & Reporting:
Maintain accurate inventories of hardware and software assets using MECM.
Generate regular reports on system health, patch compliance, software deployments, and security posture.
Work with program leadership to generate custom reports as needed.
Troubleshooting & Support:
Provide Tier 3 support for MECM-related issues, including package deployment failures, client health problems, and system integration issues.
Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve complex issues impacting the DHS environment.
Troubleshoot MECM client installations and endpoint configurations.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Work closely with DHS stakeholders, security teams, and other IT departments to ensure the smooth operation of MECM services.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
Participate in IT project planning, providing input on MECM-related tasks and dependencies. Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
4+ years of experience administering MECM (SCCM), including software deployment, patch management, and endpoint configuration.
Experience supporting federal programs, preferably within DHS or another government agency.
Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Proven experience with large-scale deployments in enterprise environments.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MECM (SCCM), including site management, client management, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation of administrative tasks.
Experience with Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows Server), Active Directory, and network services.
Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for creating and managing reports.
Certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or related certification preferred.
ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification is a plus.
Clearance:
