SUMMARY:

The Shipping Coach is responsible for the safe, effective and on-time loading and delivery of ordered Monrovia quality plants to customers in markets served by the nursery.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Business
2. Coaching and Customer Relations
3. Prepare and achieve the shipping department's operating plan, analyzing, evaluating, and adjusting it to achieve established objectives.
4. Achieve Action Plans as assigned.
5. Focus on our customer's needs by creating and continually improving the shipping operation, delivering plants when our customers want them.
6. Lead by example the implementation of the MNQ philosophy.
7. Evaluate general and specific business conditions and their possible impact on the company and the Shipping Department.
8. Explore and develop innovations and profitable new business opportunities.
9. Ensure that all departmental activities are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws.
10. Provide structure and coordination to the Shipping Teams efforts in creating and achieving both the Operating Plan and Action Plans.
11. Provide training to Shipping's Craftsmen in use of quality tools, including Statistical Process Control and measures.
12. Develop strong working relationships with vendor, suppliers and stakeholders.
13. Focus on customer's needs by creating and improving the shipping operations and the quality of loading operation to ensure quality plants are delivered to our customers.
14. Assess, revise, and implement standard measurements and processes in the following areas: Quality, Performance, and Customer Satisfaction.
15. Provide appropriate feedback to team coaches, craftsmen, driving performance efficiency and productivity.
16. Coordination of shipping activities, with all departments, promoting cost effectiveness and improved profitability.
17. Be accessible as a resource.
18. Encourage and facilitate professional growth.
19. Lead by example when applying "Practical Coach."

3. Prepare and achieve the Shipping Department's annual operating budget and plan.
4. Submit complete and timely reports as needed.
5. Ensure that accurate and efficient records are maintained for business needs.
6. Maintain open and consistent communication among all departments.
7. Maintain an intense focus on customer needs and communicate to all craftsmen their role.
8. Ensure that an accurate and efficient records and filing system is maintained for business information for production records.
9. Willingness to learn and implement Monrovia Nursery Quality
10. Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills
11. Participates in creation of personal development plan.
12. Participates in company sponsored leadership development training.

1. Competencies and Qualifications.
2. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Logistics or 5-7 years experience in the commercial field, preferably with agricultural products.
3. Planning, executing and meeting project / company goals
4. Ability to negotiate and communicate in a professional and effective manner
5. Ability to work in a diverse work force and team environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all craftsmen and coaches of the shipping and label department. This position is directly responsible for the progress and hiring of the craftsmen within that department. (Varies by nursery.)

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a craftsman to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the craftsman is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The craftsman must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Office hours may vary by season and by nursery. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
