Job description
The Lead Technologist will be responsible for assisting the Center Manager with the overall leadership and direction of the clinical departments, while ensuring high image quality and successful completion of exams. Along with staffing and quality and performance improvement efforts, the Lead Technologist will serve as an internal imaging expert for the center.
This position is at our Decatur, GA facility working Monday-Friday 6:30am-2:30pm. Must be MRI registered!
Duties/Responsibilities:
Creates a positive patient and customer experience by representing the US Radiology Way
Operates scanning equipment safely and competently, while obtaining quality images
Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required
Complies with center safety guidelines for patient and self, utilizes protective equipment when appropriate
Ensures patient safety by screening for contraindications such as, but not limited to, cardiac pacemakers, sheet metal fragments, shrapnel, jewelry, wallet, metal prosthesis, etc.
Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e., Fuji and PACS)
Ensures proper charges are entered and referring physician's orders are verified
Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner
Prepares examination rooms for radiology procedures
Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation and maintains room cleanliness and neat appearance
Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e., technical quality, anatomical positioning, annotation, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS
Perform regular audit of center activities for quality standard compliance; collaborates with Imaging Lead on implementation of solutions for imaging and quality challenges
Provides in-center support for accreditation activities
Provides input and support for new initiatives and process implementation
Acts as on-site leadership in absence of center manager, helping to manage center activities
Manages the training and onboarding of new technologists
Assists in the recruiting, interviewing and hiring process
Monitors and approves timecards
Participates in technologist performance evaluations and on-going development of technologists including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions when necessary
Allocates specific job responsibilities/specialty tasks and defines priorities
Act as primary point of escalation for clinical challenges and escalating particularly complex issues to Imaging Lead
Assists in or establishes technologist schedules to provide for planned time off, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and adequate department coverage
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols
Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and safety guidelines
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
Knowledge of current technical skills and procedural understanding to perform a full range of scanning procedures
Knowledge of and adherence to ALARA principles
Knowledge of basic level computer skills
Ability to operate and adjust scanning and ancillary equipment
Skill in organizing and prioritizing work and following assignments through to completion
Skill in written and verbal communication
Ability to take initiative to improve processes, think strategically and identify trends
Ability to provide open, honest feedback to improve decision making
Ability to maintain and build constructive relationships that produce results
Ability to effectively supervise non-exempt staff
Ability to lead in a manner consistent with USRS' and the Departments values

Education and Experience:
Graduate of 24-month AMA approved School of Radiology Technology
12 months previous experience in diagnostic radiology or other imaging modality
ARRT certification in Radiology; advanced certification in CT or MRI
IV credentialed if applicable
BLS certification
