Telecommunications Mechanic I Contingent Upon Contract Award Installs, removes, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs voice and/or non-voice communications systems. Ensures grounding and bonding are compliant with applicable standards and codes. Ensures transmission fundamentals of copper and fiber media are maintained. Troubleshoots entire communications system to determine if problems are related to hardware or cabling. Tests and evaluates newly installed or existing hardware to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility. Utilizes technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements. Compiles, reviews, and/or submits reports such as site reports or project status reports, as required by management. Fabricates a variety of cable assemblies to include multi-conductor, coaxial, data and power cables in accordance with military and DOD standards. Works with Quality Control, Engineering, and Project Managers to provide feedback and resolve issues that are focused on improving production quality. Reads and interprets technical drawings for fabrication and installation of communication, network, and security systems. Builds custom installation kits designed for offsite integrations.
