Job Summary
Prepares patient transportation vehicles for duty by ensuring that they are stocked, cleaned and disinfected, and mechanically inspected upon start of shift.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Valid Drivers License
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma
Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of licensed driving experience; must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older to be eligible to drive a NGHS vehicle
Other: High School diploma or equivalent

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of fluids and lubricants used in the preventive maintenance of motor vehicles
Must be twenty-one (21) years of age as a requirement of NGHS vehicle insurance carrier and must have less than two moving violations in the past three years on Motor Vehicle Report
Organization skills related to record keeping of daily vehicle inspection logs
Ability to perform infection control and vehicle disinfecting procedures
Understanding of MSDS information as it relates to vehicle lubricants and cleaning solutions
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensures that all Medical Transport vehicles are regularly inspected, cleaned, stocked, and disinfected. Coordinates and records all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all vehicles. Reviews and revises the preventive maintenance schedule forms as needed. Reports suspected vehicle neglect or abuse. Washes the vehicles when needed. Maintains a supply of all vehicle fluids.
Maintains an inventory of common repair parts such as headlight, brake light, and turn signal bulbs. Picks up common repair parts from the supplier. Reports to supervisor when stock is low.
Coordinates the cleaning of the vehicles. Ensures that the vehicles are washed as needed and that the washing (run-off) is performed within the ordinances established by local jurisdiction.
Disinfects and decontaminates the transport vehicles per infection control policy and product guidelines. Uses correct PPE when decontaminating or using cleaning chemicals. Maintains sufficient cleaning supplies to properly treat vehicles.
Maintains records of vehicle maintenance problems and repair. Maintains electronic vehicle inspection records and resolutions of any needed repairs. Generates summary reports for vehicle maintenance history.
Assists supervisor in transporting vehicles for repair or pickup. Maintains familiarity with repair vendor locations and contact information.
Troubleshoots and repairs vehicles to level of training and expertise. Makes needed repairs to ambulances, non-emergency vehicles, and equipment within scope of Preparation Technician.
Assists supervisor on any regulatory changes or improvements needed prior to any agency inspections.
