SUMMARY

  • This position is responsible for providing process engineering at our site with an emphasis on creating continuous improvement in process capabilities. The position has the responsibility to complete advanced process engineering work with minimum guidance including new and innovative process designs and improvements. A process engineer is expected to be customer-focused and is expected to display discipline, attention-to-detail, and, teamwork that creates value through effective design and operation of the assets of the company. The engineer will produce measurable results in a) Environmental/Health/Safety, b) Quality and Food Safety and c) Financial performance (cost and asset management).



Salary: $87,000.00-$130,000.00



FUNCTIONS

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Produce sustainable, measurable results in Environmental/Safety/Health, Quality/Food Safety, and Financial (Cost and Asset Management), through defined processes.
  • Contribute to a team environment with engagement at all levels and respect for all people.
  • Customer Focus - Demonstrate a customer-focused culture of discipline, attention-to-detail, and teamwork.
  • Use a system approach that shares resources and knowledge across all sites minimizing the need for corporate overhead.
  • Contribute to the development of less experienced process engineers allowing them to continuously increase their contribution, work satisfaction and success.
  • Complete the following tasks without direct requests.
  • Assure adequate and appropriate process measures are in place and process control systems are in place, including the use of SPC.
  • A process engineer is expected to be able to lead the training efforts in the application of statistical methods, including but not limited to: Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Assure process documentation is complete, including, but not limited to process flow diagrams (PFD's) (with material and energy balances), Process and Instrument Drawings (P&ID's) and process descriptions.
  • Lead and/or participate in audits of existing processes for safety, environmental, quality and food safety on a regular basis.
  • Lead and/or participate in formal, documented process reviews of all new projects.
  • Use and support the ISC Management of Change (MOC) policy and procedure.
  • Assure process control systems, including interlocks are properly designed, implemented, and regularly verified as required by the ISC Safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Safety, Health, and Quality staff to assure sites manufacturing processes are safety designed, audited, and operated in accordance with ISC policies and procedures, which includes all appropriate local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Lead major process-related projects as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

The following are the basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering

Experience

  • 3 years' experience in process engineering or process engineering management.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience with a minimum of Green Belt certification with a Black belt certification desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

The following are the basic qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to understand processes and lead process improvement efforts.
  • Ability to provide training and support to hourly associates.
  • Proficient in the use of statistical methods including Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control.
  • Prior experience with capital projects and some experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen. Use of hands to grasp, handle, pinch, pick-up and type. Reach with hands and arms. Ability to climb and balance. Close, distance, color and peripheral vision with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to travel if needed.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Conditions

  • Corporate work area is a quiet, climate-controlled, private office. The refineries require the wearing of personal protective equipment including, flame retardant uniforms, ANSI approved safety shoes with static dissipation, safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing protection in most areas.

Employee Supervision

  • No direct supervisory responsibility

Decision Making/Accountability

  • Position results have direct impact on operations of entire company. Requires independent judgment with little or no supervision. Requires creative and original thinking to develop solutions to unusual or major problems where decisions greatly affect major management considerations.
