Job description

Duties As an RPA Sensor Operator, GS-2101-11, you will: Perform mission planning, preflight, in-flight, and post-flight duties in accordance with aircraft technical orders, applicable Air Force Instructions, and Unified Combatant Commands' theater Rules of Engagement. Must understand Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for friendly and enemy Air Order of Battle assets. Operate mission planning ancillary equipment to initialize information for download to airborne mission systems. Receive, interpret, extract, and disseminate relevant ATO, Airspace Control Order, and Special Instructions information. Participate in post-flight debriefing to establish mission accomplishments and potential procedural development. Perform Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Close Air Support; Combat Search and Rescue; Dynamic Targeting/Time Sensitive Targeting; Air Interdiction; Strike Coordination and Reconnaissance; and Air Operations in Maritime Surface Warfare utilizing Full Motion Video and various sensors, mission equipment, and precision guided munitions. Detect, analyze and discriminate between valid and invalid targets using synthetic aperture radar, electro-optical, low-light, and infrared full-motion video imagery, and other active acquisition and tracking systems. Assist in air navigation, AOB integration, control planning, and determining effective sensor control and delivery tactics to achieve overall mission objectives. Receive target briefs (9-lines). Conduct immediate first phase Battle Damage Assessments for up-channel coordination and potential reattack. Utilize laser target marking systems to provide target identification and illumination in support of other combat assets. Responsible for the onboard/off-board sensors for guidance and delivery. Conduct crewmember duties related to deployed and in-garrison launch and recovery operations. Configure Ground Control Station and aircraft systems to effectively conduct handover operations. Monitor aircraft systems, notify pilot of system malfunctions, and assist with diagnosis and troubleshooting. Execute all normal and emergency procedure checklists and assists pilot in complying with all applicable technical orders and flight regulations. Perform training, planning, standardization and evaluation, and other administrative duty functions for Remotely Piloted Aircraft system operations. Conduct training for RPA operations systems personnel. Develop and review instructional methods and procedures used in Initial Qualification Training, Upgrade Training, and Continuation Training. Review training status and recommends remedial training. Evaluate aircrew academic, simulation, and in-flight performances. Review trend analysis of flight evaluations to identify training deficiencies. Supervise subordinates during the performance of their duties. Review training status and arranges additional, remedial, and continuation training. Conduct periodic inspections of aircrew operations and unit activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. This position requires a Top Secret clearance (Sensitive Compartmented Information) as a condition of employment. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearance. Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies. Must maintain a current Class 3 Flight Physical. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. Experience using computer and automation systems. Specialized Experience: Candidate must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training arranging or procuring transportation for personnel, cargo or freight. Experience in non-routine pre and post auditing of freight bills, bills of lading, and personnel transportation vouchers. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in fields listed below leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements. Education - Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.
