Job description

Assist in and support āina-based education outdoors, like Kamananui Valley (Moanalua), and in classroom settings. Lead elementary-aged students through adults from different perspectives (students, community members, visitors) through a variety of educational programming related to: Mo olelo, culture, and history Land and natural resource management Environmental Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (E-STEM) Conservation practice Green career pathways Leadership Skills and Professionalism Community Building and Engagement Sustainable Agriculture & Ag Technology ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate attendance and schedules for field educational programs. Lead outdoor education activities with grades K-12 in Kamananui Valley. Facilitate in school lessons with high school students in environmental science, land and natural resource management, green career pathways, and community engagement. Helps to create curriculum, SOPS, and checklists for program, safety standards, and trail maintenance Inventory and maintain supplies, equipment, and education sites. Assess effects of changes and unexpected circumstances and develop strategies to ensure their minimal impact on operations and other programs. Assist in the documentation and evaluation of all programs including surveys and similar tools. Assist in the development of curriculum and programing. Assist in telling our story through digital media, live presentations, and other methods. React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned, including being cross-trained to facilitate new education programs in the future. Identify barriers to successful completion of goals and work with supervisor to determine potential solutions for them. Support Education Director in a variety of tasks to deliver directives and measurables. Prepare for and teach cultural and environmental education to youth groups and adults specifically prepared for Kamananui Valley and other conservation areas as designated. Education & Other Requirements High School Diploma required. Preferred: Bachelors degree in environmental education, natural sciences, Ag, or related field. Adult and child first aid certification. A valid Hawaii drivers license and willingness to use a personal vehicle when necessary. Qualifications Experience in educational settings with high school students. Experience leading outdoor education programs. Experience creating and aligning curriculum. Knowledge of Hawaiian culture or a strong interest and willingness to learn. Knowledgeable and competent in the use of social media. Experience with video creation and production. Ability to work independently and consistently in a timely and organized fashion. Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Be flexible, collaborative, and a team player. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient in using google documents, forms, sheets, etc. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to type, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus during significant computer related work. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations.
