Job description
Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties You will independently plan, layout the work to be done, select the proper tools, determine methods/materials to be used, and accomplish the work in accordance with approved methods. You will interrupt blueprints, drawings, specifications, surveys, work orders, or sketches. You will install/arrange reinforcement steel or wire mesh to obtain maximum strength, control joints, expansion and contraction joints. You will perform complex brickwork. You will ensure courses are laid evenly and that completed work blends with existing brickwork. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain license for the operation of a forklift other high lift and/or construction equipment. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current respirator certification. This position may be job sited. The incumbent may be required to report for work at a location other than a permanently assigned location. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A MASON WITH OUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION INCLUDING: 1) Lay a variety of brick, block, and stone (e.g. firebrick, structural tile, concrete blocks, glass blocks, terra cotta and artificial and natural stone) to repair items such as partitions, walls, walkways, manholes, boilers, catch basins, chimneys, and fireplaces; 2) Work from oral instructions, blueprints, work orders, and rough sketches to complete assigned tasks; 3) Use a variety of hand and power tools such as trowels, mixers, chisels, hammers, crowbars, brick or skill saws, axes, and picks to remove or prepare walls for repair and cut and shape brick and stone. A forty-hour work week is typical of this position. The employee may be required to work regularly scheduled overtime or overtime on an emergency basis.
