Credit & Collection Specialist

The Credit & Collection Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the company receives payment for goods and services which includes facilitating collection of delinquent accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Checks and verifies credit status of individuals applying for credit and with the help of the Credit Supervisor, determines credit limit following specific instructions and prescribed procedures based on applicant's assets and ability to pay; notifies customer of acceptance or rejection of credit.
  • Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
  • Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
  • Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment.
  • Creates reports regarding the current status of customer accounts as requested.
  • Researches customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of the Collections Supervisor and other staff.
  • Collaborates with the Collections Supervisor to reconcile accounts receivable on a periodic (at least bimonthly) basis.
  • Create new customer accounts, check credit references, set up terms and credit limits, Collection calls, resolve all
  • Assists with credit ratings, payoffs, filing and miscellaneous reports.
  • Other duties as may be required.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of previous credit and collection experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • High level of written and oral communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and industry regulations.
  • Superb organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
