Job description
The Alaka ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Security Officer, Step 1 to support our government customer located in Kaua'i, Hawai'i . Performs armed security duties primarily in the form of installation gate access and mobile and walking patrols. In concert with U.S. Navy and Department of the Navy Civilian Security Officers, protects persons and property associated with the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF). DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Controls persons and vehicles entering and exiting PMRF through verification of proper access media. Also controls persons and vehicles entering and exiting designated controlled areas within PMRF. Conducts mobile and walking patrols to prevent unauthorized PMRF entry, checks building security, identifies safety issues, and protects PMRF assets. Remains vigilant to suspicious activity, to include potential terrorist acts. Applies appropriate use of force, to include deadly force, to protect others and enforce general law and order. Responds to incidents as required. May perform ready-for-issue (RFI)(armory) duties if RFI certification is obtained. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (two man assist). Physical positions will include, but not be limited to, walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, or cramped workspaces, and work requiring repeated or frequent climbing. Environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, with field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather. Feet: Besides walking and standing, a Security Officer uses his/her feet for activities such as the Physical Agility Test, driving/operating vehicles, self-defense, physical use of force, and running pursuit. Hands: Must be able to do simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation with both hands, to include maneuvering an all-terrain vehicle. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Possess a Hawaii State Driver's License. Be cleared to perform duties through a medical exam and psychological testing Candidate must maintain the following training certifications: Navy Security Guard Training Course Navy Position Qualification System (applicable certifications) Airfield Vehicle Operations Course CPR/1st Aid/AED ATV Operator Pistol and Rifle Qualifications Physical Agility Test REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Skills needed include: report writing gate and patrol procedures traffic control emergency response actions communications crime scene prevention and physical security cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid force protection handling of classified information Ten (10) weapons (pistol, rifle, shotgun) qualification and safety DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of security, security-related, or military work experience REQUIED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: Must be a U.S. Citizen Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
