Job description

Duties You will update program instructions or guidance applicable to the implementation of environmental standards and regulations. You will issue environmental program and project assessments. You will provide support and ensure compliance with environmental policies and regulations. You will assist in the maintenance of equipment needed to monitor environmental programs. You will review technical work documents prior to starting work to validate the appropriate environmental requirements. You will coordinate visits by contractors and other agency representatives to provide information or inspections. You will ensure proper record keeping and compliance per NAVSEA requirements. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. You may be required to lift and carry up to 44 pounds unaided or by using appropriate material handling equipment. You may occasional work in confined or otherwise uncomfortable environments. You may be required to operate government vehicles and must possess and maintain a valid State driver license. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications FOR GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing duties supporting environmental programs (e.g., Clean Water, Clean Air, Oil and Hazardous Substances/Spill Response, Industrial Wastewater, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Underground Storage Tanks, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, etc.). Examples of qualifying experience may include assisting in preparing environmental technical documents (e.g., reports, plans, correspondence, etc.); assisting in conducting environmental field work (e.g., inspections, sampling); and assisting in assessing regulatory requirements to determine impacts. FOR GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing environmental programs (e.g., Clean Water, Oil, Hazardous Substances/Spill Response, Clean Water, Industrial Wastewater, etc) through the implementation of regulations into processes, planning/executing work assignments, preparing technical documents (e.g., permits, plans, correspondence), and active problem solving.
