eTeam Inc is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Jerome, Idaho.

Job Description & Requirements

Unit Notes
Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center?
Non- Trauma, no stemi, stoke

Do you have a separate Triage area? If so, do you allow/require travelers to do Triage?
Triage out of the lobby; Travelers allowed to triage

Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER?
Hold patient in ED- Rare. If we do it's a behavioral health patient

Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms?
Yes we have 1 "safer" room. We occasionally hold behavioral health patients in ED

Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER?
Yes, housed outside of ED in the hospital

On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day?
17 patients/day

Nurse: Patient Ratios
1:3-4;
Staffing:
1 physician (24 hour shift)
2 ED RNs (days and nights)
No techs or CNAs
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS?)
Must have BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
Will accept first time traveler if they have 3 years of experience in speciality

Common diagnoses/Types of patients
Belly pain, SOB, Resp, chest pain, minor traumas

Experience or 'Must have' skills
Will accept 1 year of experience but need to have experience at critical access hospital, community hospital, or small level 3 or 4 trauma hospital.
Will accept first time traveler if they have 3 years of experience in speciality
Must be able to work independently with limited resources, and have good time management skills.

Common drips?
Must be able to titrate on drip and provide conscious sediation; blood products.
We don't get these often so we need a nurse with experience in these medications
ED Physician/Mid-Levels

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?
1 Charge Nurse over ED and MS - will float to ED to assist if there is a surg. Charge nurse does not take an assignment

Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties?
None

Is RT in the ER 24/7? Do they do ABG's, breathing Tx, & EKG's?
RT in house during day shift and on-call at nights (20 min response time)
RT does breathing tx during days, RNs expected to administer breathing tx at night;

RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?
Nurse asked to be able to manage respiratory equip until RT arrives

Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors?
Must be able to read and interpret tele and document it appropriately

X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport?
Attached to ER; CT & Xray will transport but nurses asked to assist since there is only 1 tech working on nights.

Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?
Yes, 1 lab tech

Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?)
12s from 7-7
Self-scehdule, but not finalized until balanced by management;
Willing to work with travelers on scheduling;
Cannot guareentee block scheduling or set schedules

Weekend Requirements
Every Other Weekend
Nights- Fri & Sat, Days- Say & Sun

Holiday Requirements
May be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation

Is there call or a standby requirement?

Floating Requirements
May be asked to float MS unit; usually only if the traveler has prior MS/MS-Tele experience; May be asked to go task in that area

Scrub Color/Dress Code
RNs- Any color but Marroon. RNs usually wear navy
CNAs- Marroon

Unit/Department specific orientation
1 shift with preceptors

Additional Notes
Must be able to work indepentently and need to be self sufficient
ED physician will most likely be sleeping during night shift and called when patient arrives (They work a 24/7 shift)
