Overview

BIM Coordinator prepares engineering designs, drawings, and related technical information. Handles complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision. The BIM Coordinator designs a working system per engineer's layout/flow diagram/speck, coordinates it with structure, architecture, and other trades.


This is an in-person role with no remote work. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.


Principal Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Find and build models of the equipment that Premier will be installing based on approved submittals.
  • Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications. Create drawings and models from written and verbal specifications obtained from Project Engineer.
  • Plans and prepares the Trimble 3D scanner to obtain scans, piece them together, and export the relevant portions for use in drafting and coordination.
  • Modeling- Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings. build 3D models for whatever system we are designing or implementing, as well as models ensure these models are accurate and include all the equipment, valving, and sensors the project requires and find ways to make everything fit in the space provided in a manner that is feasible to install and accounts for service clearances.
  • Provide technical support to designers, BIM Coordinators, and engineers to ensure coordination design effort is maintained. Participate in project meetings and conference calls as required.
  • Makes models perform clash detection and other coordination tasks, to produce shop drawings, and to export spools, BOMS, and Trimble points for the eventual fabrication and installation of the system.
  • Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal. Organize the files and drawings for projects assigned to. When involved with coordination on a job, organize the relevant files from other trades.
  • Ensure that spooling tasks have been delegated. Support and manage the vendor who may be creating the spools. Ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy. Identifies and addresses potential issues with the design or inconsistencies and ambiguities in the contract drawings.
  • Works with BIM Manager regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation. Maintain all revisions of project drawings.
  • Provide timely technical assistance and solutions to the team. Assist Project Managers in supporting the field operations with additional detail drawings requested and technical ingenuity when there are problems in the field such as other contractors not installing their services as modeled.
  • Update BIM Manager on progress of weekly schedule.
  • Provide and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as required to maintain efficient department operations.


  • Degree in a related discipline (Drafting, Technical Communication, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.).
  • Minimum of 12 months of Revit modeling experience.
  • Excellent graphic, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of 3D parametric modeling methods and the benefits of integrated building modeling.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and to set priorities and manage competing demands while working independently.
  • Demonstrate a reliable, responsive, and positive work ethic with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with recognition of the importance of clear, concise, consistent documentation.
  • Working knowledge of drawing production, standard construction techniques and principles.
