Riverside Overview Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship. Position Overview Riverside Research's Applied Mathematics and Physics Solutions group is seeking a full-time summer intern in Champaign, IL to support development of high-impact computational electromagnetics (CEM) codes. Work will be performed in collaboration with a diverse team, with backgrounds in CEM, physics, computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, and high-performance computing (HPC). This position will include work on independent research and development (IRAD) and/or contracts. Responsibilities Work with subject matter experts to develop state-of-the-art computational electromagnetics (CEM) tools and/or numerical linear algebra algorithms Aid in design, development, documentation, testing (validation and verification) and debugging of software Support code development activities by developing requirements and test plans for software validation and verification Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications : Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance At least a rising junior in Fall 2025 in an undergraduate program in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent At least 1 year of C, C++, and/or Fortran software development on and for Linux or other Unix-like systems At least 1 year of experience with Python, Unix shell scripting or computationally focused high-level languages such as MATLAB, Mathematica, Julia, etc Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal Desired Qualifications: Parallel programming experience (MPI and/or OpenMP) Global Comp $20.00 - $25.00 hr This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
