Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Investment Accountant. The Senior Investment Accountant will oversee and manage the accounting and reporting of investment portfolios, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to financial regulations. The ideal candidate will possess experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, and investment portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Accounting: Oversee the accounting for investment portfolios, including valuation, reconciliation, and reporting of various asset classes such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternative investments.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review investment-related financial statements, reports, and schedules for internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Portfolio Valuation: Ensure accurate and timely valuation of investments, including the use of pricing services and valuation models.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), regulatory requirements, and internal policies related to investment accounting.
  • Reconciliation: Perform and review reconciliations of investment accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze investment performance and produce reports detailing returns, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in investment accounting operations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with portfolio managers, traders, and other finance team members to ensure accurate and timely accounting of investment transactions.
  • Training and Mentorship: Mentor junior accountants and provide training on investment accounting practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in investment accounting or a related field, with a background in managing investment portfolios and financial reporting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in investment accounting software (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet), accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Insurance, Banking
  • Advanced Skills: Knowledge of complex investment structures and advanced financial modeling techniques.
