Job description

Basic Function: Develops, coordinates, and implements the divisional behavioral health training program for both new hires and existing staff to ensure that services meet/exceed licensure, accreditation, and best practice standards. Assures ongoing training needs-assessments, new employee orientation and on the job training for probationary employees, and continual professional development for regular employees.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing training programs and curricula for clinical staff, including new hires and existing employees. This often involves creating materials, schedules, and assessments.
  • Organizing and conducting training sessions, workshops, and seminars. This might include in-person sessions, virtual training, or a combination of both.
  • Ensuring that training programs meet regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. This includes staying updated on relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Adjusting programs as necessary based on these evaluations.
  • Coordinating with various departments and healthcare professionals to schedule training sessions and ensure that all participants have the necessary information.
  • Managing training resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel. This involves maintaining up-to-date resources and ensuring they are available when needed.
  • Providing ongoing support and guidance to clinical staff, including answering questions, offering additional training as needed, and helping with problem-solving.
  • Maintaining accurate records of training activities, including attendance, completion rates, and certification statuses. This is important for compliance and tracking progress.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in training programs and implementing changes to enhance effectiveness and relevance.
  • Working closely with other departments, such as human resources, clinical managers, and educational institutions, to ensure that training needs are met and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Maintains a minimum caseload of 5 clients to actively apply training techniques and assess their effectiveness in real-world settings.
  • Assures that required training needed for licensing or accreditation is provided either directly through the division/agency, or through external training resources.
  • Conducts annual staff training needs-assessments to identify and establish training priorities and communicates these to the divisional management team.
  • Implements agency/divisional human resources training as identified in the agency/divisional strategic plan.
  • Assures that individualized training plans are established and effected with all divisional staff.
  • Coordinates, maintains, and submits annual agency training transcripts to Human Resources.
  • Establishes and implements divisional staff credentialing procedures.
  • Obtains and maintains CEU licensing through the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and promotes this training within the agency and to the behavioral health professional community.
  • Organizes and maintains training manuals, resources, on-line training, and designs behavioral health training modules.
  • Implements professional CEU trainings in accord with licensing standards for social workers and counselors.
  • Maintains a sufficient resource of qualified trainers in areas identified by the division/agency.
  • Establishes and maintains a divisional training calendar, using knowledge of identified training needs, resources, and providers.
  • Represents the division and agency in training activities including trade associations, professional organizations, and professional schools.
  • Assists in the preparation of an annual training budget, as well as foundation and grant funding requests.

  • Serves on special projects and ad hoc committee work within the agency
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Evaluates training to determine impact on program and outcomes of services.
  • Maintains and ensures the confidentiality of information used in the training process.
