Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Development Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, support, and development of our internal Knowledge Mine system. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with C# and VB, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills to work closely with end users and consultants. This role also involves supporting the development of new systems, ensuring proper documentation, and delivering user training.
As a core function, this role will analyze, design, and develop new applications and maintain and enhance existing tools. They will have leading role in defining the architecture for new and transitioned applications, as well as leading and mentoring junior programmer roles.
As an adjunct function, they will participate in Help Desk operations and overall end-user support for requests, incidents, and problems escalated by the Service Delivery team.
The proper candidate should be comfortable around both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks, and third-party libraries. They should also be a team player with a knack for visual design and utility.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge Mine Maintenance & Support:
- Oversee the ongoing support, updates, and troubleshooting of the internal Knowledge Mine system.
- Ensure system availability, reliability, and performance through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
Development Support:
- Use C# and VB expertise to maintain and enhance existing applications.
- Participate in the design, development, and deployment of new systems and features that meet user requirements and business goals.
User Support & Collaboration:
- Work closely with end users to provide support, gather feedback, and deliver timely updates or improvements to systems.
Consultant Collaboration:
- Partner with external consultants to support system upgrades, migrations, and enhancements.
- Ensure seamless collaboration with third-party consultants on development projects and troubleshooting efforts.
System Development & Integration:
- Support the development of new systems and applications, working closely with internal teams and external consultants to ensure successful implementation.
- Identify opportunities for integration and automation within existing systems.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Use strong analytical abilities to identify, assess, and solve system issues or bottlenecks.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement, efficiency, and optimization in both the Knowledge Mine system and new applications.
Documentation & Training:
- Develop user guides, technical documentation, and system manuals to ensure clear understanding and future reference.
- Train end users on new features, systems, or updates, ensuring smooth adoption and optimal use of technology solutions.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software development and IT support roles, with expertise in C# and VB.
- Strong experience in maintaining and supporting custom-built systems (e.g., Knowledge Mine).
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer-service orientation when working with end users.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Proven ability to work with external consultants on development projects and system improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and provide innovative solutions.
- Experience in developing and supporting enterprise-level applications.
- Familiarity with database management and integrations.
- Proficiency with IDEs (MS Visual Studio) and Source Control platforms (GitHub, Team Foundation Server, MS DevOps).
- Experience with system migrations or modernizing legacy systems.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently. Knowledge of MS Dynamics 365 F&O a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing and distribution, and or Food and Beverage industry a plus.
- Project management experience is a plus.
