Job Description

This role is based out of our Procurement Hub in North Chicago, IL; remote is not available for this opening (hybrid via 3 -days per week onsite)

The Associate Director, Supplier Innovation plays a crucial role in developing and implementing advanced supplier management policies and procedures, focusing on enhancing supplier interactions and performance and enabling value creation. This role involves spearheading innovative frameworks and tools for supplier management, collaborating with category managers on supplier portfolio strategies, and facilitating workshops and conferences for effective supplier engagement focused on the short to mid-term (1-3 years) execution of functions strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of forward-thinking supplier management policies and procedures, including supplier performance targets and assessment criteria.
  • Spearhead the creation and implementation of innovative supplier management frameworks, templates, and tools that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of supplier interactions and create value across all supplier tiers.
  • Collaborate with category managers to develop and execute strategies for efficient supplier portfolio management, encompassing segmentation and rationalization initiatives aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate dynamic and constructive supplier workshops and conferences, establishing robust communication channels that enables effective collaboration and information sharing with suppliers.
  • Drive ongoing supplier performance improvement initiatives by working closely with category management teams, including overseeing supplier business reviews and targeted improvement plans.
  • Implement comprehensive process tracking and reporting to assess and refine supplier performance targets while enforcing governance structures for supplier management.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Supplier Management & Innovation team, guiding the team in implementing and adhering to approved policies, frameworks, and processes for supplier management.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement while ensuring growth and development in the teams individual members and broader capabilities.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required; concentration in Business Administration, Supply Chain Mgmt or related field desired. Masters degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in areas such as: procurement, supplier management, supply chain or related business function.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing senior internal business and functional leaders.
  • Proven expertise in category management and detailed understanding of supplier relationship management.
  • Experience optimizing supplier portfolios and managing supplier relationships in a procurement function.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is required.
