Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Scientist I, Engineering to join our Combination Product Development and Drug Delivery Team to contribute to the development of exciting new drug / device combination products.
As a Senior Scientist I, Engineering you would be part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals working at the intersection of engineering and biopharmaceuticals. Responsibilities:
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Test Method Development of delivery devices and combination products: Owner of Test Method development, including best practices for universal implementation, Test Method Validation/Transfer.
- Design Verification: Author verification protocols and reports. Support investigations and issue resolutions.
- Lab Support: Execute test protocols supporting exploratory and verification testing, analyze data, document in lab notebooks, and present results to cross-functional teams. Utilize Zwick (UTM), machine shop equipment, and 3D printers.
- Software Tools: Utilize Solidworks, Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) software and electronic DHF tools such as Polarian.
- Work in an independent manner under the guidance of a supervisor or technical lead.
- Comply with applicable policies and procedures, regulatory and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent education andtypically 10 years of experience, MastersDegree or equivalent education and typically 8years of experience, PhD and no experiencenecessary.
- 5+ years of experience in medical devices or combination products.
- Significant experience and understanding of development and verification of complex combination products such as On-Body-Delivery-Devices and continuous pumps.
- Significant experience with operation and maintenance of a Universal Test Machine (UTM), specifically Zwick.
- Experience with machine shop equipment including 3D printers, bandsaws, milling equipment, lathes, and lasers.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) including the ability to influence without direct authority and ability to present to auditors on equipment qualification and data integrity.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Design Controls, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and FDA regulations.
- Documentation experience including technical reports, design verification plans, protocols, etc.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- A keen eye for identifying project risks and proactively developing mitigation plans.
- Self-driver with proven track record of actively engaging and working in a matrixed environment with cross-functional teams, strong decision making, and completing quality deliverables on time.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with fixture development, volumetric accuracy equipment, viscometers, climate chambers, etc.
- Experience with equipment including computer numerical control (CNC) and automated features.
- Knowledge of basic statistics and Six Sigma statistical techniques.
- Experience with Minitab and Matlab.
