Videos Help Duties Utilizes automatic data processing systems, such as Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System (TOPS) and Defense Personal Property System (DPS), to prepare necessary transportation documents. Ensures inventory is complete and report on damage and missing items is accurate. Inspects contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating, and unpacking. Inspects crates and material for overseas or domestic shipment and rejects those not meeting specifications. Assists customers by providing information concerning the claims process. Provides counseling and assistance on a wide variety of transportation services to DoD personnel and their families. Serves as liaison between customer and carrier/agent in the resolution of disagreements regarding carrier performance and/ or customer responsibilities. Performs pre-award survey for pack and crate contractor warehouse and equipment in accordance with current regulations. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required. Position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 20%. Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license. May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty. Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: inspecting contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packing (e.g., packing, crating, and unloading); inspecting warehouses for adequate protection, cleanliness, and other proper conditions in accordance with policy and regulations; and performing witnessed weighs/reweighs shipments and annotates damaged/missing item reports, deficiencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Attention to Detail Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. When a temporary promotion is terminated, the employee will be returned to the position from which they were temporarily promoted; or, with their consent, to a different position of equivalent grade and pay. When a temporary promotion is to an organization in a different command, the losing and gaining activities must agree to the temporary promotion and decide in advance which activity will assume responsibility for placement of the employee when the temporary promotion ends. If no decision is made, the employee will return to their permanent position of record.
