Machine Operator (Sheet Metal Fabrication)

Ecolab, the leading global developer of premium cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional, and industrial markets is seeking a Machine Operator who has experience fabricating sheet metal products. The Machine Operator (Sheet Metal Fabrication) position will be working in a fast-paced environment, producing small quantities of unique, sometimes complex, sheet metal parts.

What You Will Do:

  • Fabricate geometrically complex sheet metal components using an array of equipment including but not limited to a CNC brake press, fiber optic laser, spot welders, stud insert machines, drill presses, grinders, buffers, etc.
  • Set up and tear down multiple programs on these machines' multiple times a day/week
  • Use and select required hand tools, machinery, measuring instruments, and abrasives in accordance with detailed work instructions, blueprints, and verbal instructions
  • Set up and tear down multiple programs on these machines' multiple times a day/week.
  • Verify all safety devices are functioning properly
  • Monitor the quality of parts to ensure that they meet specification
  • Report any damage or faults with the machine
  • Perform routine grinding and polishing
  • Perform routine cutting and drilling with a band saw, metal muncher or chop saw, etc.
  • Carry out day to day preventive maintenance on the machinery and oil, grease, clean, and refill the machine
  • Use air tools to grind and polish weldments from stainless steel sheet metal components
  • Check part quality by visual and touch inspection of the part to detect defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks in metal.
  • Setup and maintain air tools and other tools for the operation. This includes cleaning and oiling tools, appropriate storage.
  • When necessary, to meet company objectives, perform any assigned work for which qualified.
  • Accurately account for quantity and time on computer and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Wear and use all safety equipment provided and follow all safety procedures
  • Adhere to all plant procedures

Position Details:

  • Location: Roscoe, IL
  • Work week and shift: M-Thu; 6am-4pm
  • Compensation package offered: $23.00/ hr

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have basic math ability
  • 2 years' work experience in a metal or fabrication shop
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • Immigrations Sponsorship not available for this opportunity

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand upwards of 10 hours
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical exam

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal technical skills training
  • Ability to perform shop mathematical calculations
  • Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Working knowledge of related measuring instruments
  • Familiarity with CNC programming software and CAD/CAM software
  • Ability to distinguish between various metals
  • Good communication and written skills
