Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center is looking for QMA's to cultivate lifelong relationships in our 102-bed skilled nursing home and a 20 bed alzheimer unit. Our desire is to continue to provide the best care to the residents of our community!

The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Essential Functions

  • The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
  • QMA's administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
  • Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
  • Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
  • Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
  • QMA's will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
  • Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee


Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Qualifications

  • Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing
  • Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the State Department of Health
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of employment.
  • A high school diploma or GED
