Department Information

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at Indiana University Bloomington. It is composed of 40+ departments, 50+ Centers, Programs, and Institutes, while also including the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design, the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and The Media School. Faculty in the College teach over 50 percent of the Indiana University (Bloomington) credit hours in 80+ buildings on the Bloomington campus.

Job Summary

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising the organization's contracts and grants operations for the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Oversees and monitors staff performing general contracts and grants duties while ensuring compliance university policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities
  • Supervises the day-to-day work activities of Contracts and Grants Specialists performing various support tasks primarily in the area of contracts and grants to ensure compliance with federal, state, agency and university policies
  • Responsible for accuracy, timelines, and the general integrity of the Contracts and Grants function
  • Provides training and development of newly assigned or less experience personnel
  • Advises higher level people leaders regarding the effective use of resources and methods to maximize earnings
  • Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing pre- and post-award processes and develops sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable grants process improvements

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Business, Public Affairs, or related field)
Preferred
  • Master's degree or other advanced degree preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years related functional experience
Preferred
  • 5 years of related experience in sponsored research and/or financial positions, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Prior experience in managing Grant Administrators and/or leading teams
  • Pre- and post-award grants experience
  • Supervision experience
  • Project management experience
  • Proven experience in participating as a team member in a collaborative environment within a diverse workforce

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$81,000. - $84,000 Annually
