Job Summary

The Environmental Resilience Institute's Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Indiana Resilience Funding Hub (IRFH) and coordination of community engagement for IRFH and other community outreach programs under the direction of the Assistant Director for Strategy and Engagement. These programs are the core of ERI's Strategy and Engagement work in support of external partners, and the role is critical for building relationships with partner organizations.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as the main point of contact for partners participating in the IRFH and other projects serving Indiana communities.
  • Designs and implements program schedules, work plans, and other project management tools for use by IRFH.
  • Coordinates external convenings related to IRFH and other initiatives, including IRFH monthly webinars, and ERI's annual conference.
  • Establishes and maintains internal and external contacts in support of IRFH and other related engagement and strategic initiatives.
  • Assists with orientation and coordination of McKinney Climate Fellows associated with IRFH.
  • Assists in development of surveys, spreadsheets, reports and other tools to track and report program outcomes to grantors, internal stakeholders, and the public.
  • Supports expansion, growth, donor communication, and refinement of the IRFH and other strategic initiatives in support of the Assistant Director for Strategy and Engagement.
  • Provides quality control and maintenance of our project and contact management database.
  • Facilitates ERI experts in providing technical assistance and advice to local governments and other organizations in support of their grant preparedness planning and community engagement.
General Responsibilities
  • Serves as liaison to key stakeholders in public and private sectors on partnership opportunities advancing institutional initiatives.
  • Initiates and maintains frequent interactions with relevant partners ensuring strong collaborative relationships and focus.
  • Develops knowledge of issues and needs of initiatives, programs, and partners to make appropriate connections with university and external resources.
  • Serves as a community resource facilitating programs, providing technical assistance, and ensuring communication to optimize project outcomes.
  • Collaborates with university and external partners to identify funding needs and potential sources; participates in developing external funding proposals with education and outreach component.
  • Communicates partner expectations with unit leadership to assist in operationalizing project outcomes; collaborates in the timely delivery of logistical, budgetary, and support functions.
  • Determines and tracks key project metrics and assists in analysis and report development.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level Institutional Advancement Consultants.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, climate planning, sustainability, environmental studies or related field.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in a field related to public administration, climate planning, sustainability, environmental studies.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years experience in outreach, engagement, public relations, or related field.
Preferred
  • 1 year of full-time experience including or supplemented by project planning and implementation experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Preferred
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.

Some travel may be required.

Additional Information

During overnight stays, hotel, transportation, and a per diem for meals and incidentals will be provided.

Advertised Salary

$51,000 per year
