PARKING SERVICES (BA-PARK-IUBLA)

Department Information

Parking Operations oversees the issuance of parking permits, enforcement of parking regulations and maintenance, and funding of all or new campus parking lots and garages. Parking interacts daily with students, faculty and staff, departments, vendors, visitors, and the community as they conduct activity on the IU Bloomington campus. Job Summary

  • Under supervision and direction of the Parking Facilities Coordinator this role performs inspections, and minor technical work by repairing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on parking-related instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains all relevant data entry and equipment logs.
  • Provides high-quality customer service to all visitors.
  • Patrols assigned areas of campus for parking violations. Resolves violations by issuing parking citations.
  • Assists Parking Enforcement office support staff in most enforcement duties as needed including, but not limited to, data entry and special parking events.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred
  • 1 year of electronic repair experience or equivalent
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire
SKILLS

Required
  • Knowledge of Internet Protocol and multi-function voltmeter
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Strong customer service and ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to learn new software
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Ability to perform work in safe and efficient manner

Working Conditions / Demands

This position involves sedentary work as well as long periods of time standing, walking, driving. This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The person in this role must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, often 20-30 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$15.00 per hour

Work Hours

15 - 29 hours per week.
Hours vary between the academic year and summer class sessions.

Academic year

Monday to Thursday, 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. (August to May)

Summer

Monday to Friday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (May-August)

Office hours are typically reduced during summer, semester breaks, and when classes are not in session. Shifts may be adjusted or reduced.
