The Body Shop Technician at Columbus Auto Group plays a vital role in the repair and restoration of vehicles in the body shop department. This position requires strong technical skills in automotive body repairs, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team. The Body Shop Technician performs various repair tasks to restore damaged vehicles to their pre-accident condition.

Responsibilities:

1. Vehicle Repairs:

• Perform a range of body repairs, including dent removal, panel replacement, frame straightening, and paint preparation.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to carry out repairs accurately and efficiently.

• Follow manufacturer specifications and repair procedures to ensure high-quality workmanship.

• Conduct inspections and assessments to identify additional repair needs or hidden damages.

2. Paint and Refinish:

• Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, and applying primer.

3. Collaboration and Communication:

• Coordinate with the body shop estimator, parts department, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers regarding repair progress and timelines.

• Provide input and assistance to other technicians as needed.

4. Safety and Quality Control:

• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

• Perform quality control checks to ensure repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations.

• Keep up to date with industry advancements and techniques to enhance skills and knowledge.

5. Documentation and Recordkeeping:

• Complete repair orders and accurately document all repairs performed.

• Record parts usage, labor hours, and other relevant information for billing and documentation purposes.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an automotive body shop technician or a related role is required.

• Strong technical skills in body repairs.

• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.

• Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality workmanship.

• Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively.

• Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to safety guidelines.

• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and work in various positions.
